When I first started dating my British man, I never gave a second thought about differences in language and culture. Why would I? After all, we Americans speak English, or do we...? As dating quickly turned into being engaged to and then getting married to my British gentleman, I also found that our common language and culture was a quirky, eye-opening, and highly amusing roller-coaster ride. At times during the most basic every-day conversations, I'd be listening to his words with glazed eyes, wondering what on earth he was saying. It really was as if we were both speaking a completely different language, even though the words that comprised the language were the same. I very quickly learned so much more about the language I was supposed to have been taught at school, the commonalities, the differences, and the good old-fashioned belly-laughs about it all that still punctuate our married life to this day. Since the Anglo-American royal marriage, these quirky anecdotes and fun-filled trivia topics have become more popular than ever. More importantly, I decided to write this book for, and dedicate it to all transatlantic couples who will regularly find themselves completely divided and confused by their common language and culture.

Co-authored by Helen Renée Wuorio and Brian Sterling-Vete. Helen is an American who is married to a Brit. She was born in Minnesota but has also lived in Alaska where her Father worked as an Ice Road Trucker. Since their marriage, Helen and her husband Brian, have both enjoyed a joyous journey together discovering just how many differences there are between their two countries which both share a common language and culture. They began writing these stories and anecdotes down, and very soon it became enough to fill this, their first book about "Being American, Married to a Brit". Helen is also a competitive Bikini Fitness Athlete and won her first competition in 2016. With hard work, and her own unique system of exercise, she went from being 40lbs overweight, to a size ZERO Bikini Fitness Athlete in just 8 months! Helen now writes books about and teaches the ISOfitness(TM) exercise system which she developed with her husband Brian who is also a fitness expert. Brian is a Guinness World Record Holder, and martial arts instructor, and he is also one of the World’s leading experts on functional isometric exercise. As a veteran strength and fitness coach, Brian trained with, and coached his friend and 4 Times World’s Strongest Man, Jon Pall Sigmarsson of Iceland in strength and the martial arts. Brian worked with BBC TV News and is a TV broadcaster with a non-nonsense, entertainingly politically incorrect, and direct approach to fitness and body shaping which gets results. His last major documentary was "Robert Browne - The Rebel Who Inspired a Nation" which is about the little-known real origins of the United States as a Nation.
